Floral Cake Toppers

We recently made party hats for Margaret’s upcoming birthday, and after seeing how easy and cute they were to make, we wanted to keep crafting!

Cake decorating can we a bit tedious to do on an already busy day, so we decided to design toppers that you can make ahead of time. We’ve created a template of flowers that you can print and cut out to decorate your cakes or cupcakes! This DIY is a bit more involved than the hats, but totally doable and pretty darn cute too!

So no matter if you’re baking a cake or buying one from the store, we’ve got the decorations covered. These cake toppers can be made way ahead of time, and will help you check one more thing off your party to-do list.

Here’s what you’ll need:

– Printer
Floral Cake Topper Template
– Cardstock Paper (optional, but recommended)
– Spray mount or glue stick
– Hot glue gun
– X-Acto (and cutting mat) or scissors
– Paper Straws

How to make it:

1. Download and print the flower template.

2. If you want to make your flowers a bit sturdier, print them on cardstock OR glue/spray mount the sheet of flowers onto a piece of cardstock. Tip: Using colored paper makes for a fun pop of color on the backside of the cake!

3. Cut individual flowers out with scissors or an X-acto knife. If you use an X-acto, make sure to use a new blade for the most accurate cuts. We recommend cutting out an odd number of flowers.

4. When you’ve finished cutting flowers, glue them to the paper straws. You can cut the straws to vary the heights of the flowers on your cake.

5. Arrange the flowers on your cake, pushing the straws in like candles, and voila!
